Pre-Primary ECCE Lesson Observation Rubric · Compact Single-Sheet Edition · Foundational Stage · TeachConnect · www.teachconnect.in
Written for what a pre-primary session actually is.
The rubric follows the arc of an ECCE session: planning and curricular preparation, pedagogy and facilitation, child engagement and learning, environment, care and safety, and observation, assessment and records. Each criterion is scored 1 (needs improvement) to 4 (excellent) against a written descriptor, so two observers watching the same circle time land on the same number. The sheet also records which NCF-FS domains the session evidenced — physical and motor, socio-emotional, cognitive, language and literacy, aesthetic and cultural, and learning habits — as a tick row, not a score.
Totals map to the same four performance bands the general rubric uses — 55–68 excellent, 40–54 good, 25–39 developing, and below 25 needs support — so a school running both sheets reads one number the same way. The sheet records the observation type (announced, walkthrough, coaching or appraisal), agreed action points and a next review date, with signature lines for the observer, the teacher and the principal or ECCE head. Your draft stays on this device until you clear it; nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.
